Possible New Legislation in Pakistan

Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, MPA in Pakistan, called on the government on Monday to set up a separate department for the protection of children’s rights. She added that incidents of violence against children were being frequently reported and authorities have to take immediate action. She was addressing a topic that was discussed in the Quetta Press Club to mark the Universal Children’s Day on November 20th. Soon after this announcement the National Party’s MPA, Dr Shama Ishaq, said they would move a child protection bill in the Balochistan Assembly soon, meaning that there seems to be hope for children. We hear everyday about child rights violations not only in the middle east but also all over the world. It is great to see some changes being worked on. How do you think proper child rights protection will affect the lives of children in Pakistan? What other country could use a proper department to protect children's rights?
