Child Soldier Use Is Horrible!

This article was about Ibrahim (not his real name), one of the soldiers, who had been recruited into the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan right after high school, at the age of 17. And a mere few months later he was fighting in Darfur. This was back in 2014 but only now was he interviewed about his experience. He spoke specifically about February 28, 2014 when the RSF began beating civilians, looting property, and burning homes in the village of Hijer Tunjo. Before the attack on Hijer Tunjo, senior commanders gave orders to Ibrahim’s unit that they should abuse the women in the village. “We were told to do whatever we wanted to these women, That the women belonged to us.” Ibrahim said to his interviewer. After the attack, Ibrahim was assigned to work on logistics from the RSF base near Nyala, the capital of South Darfur. In February 2015 he resigned, running from his unit, machinegun in hand, and joined up with a faction of the rebel Sudan Liberation Army. This happens to many other kids many times even younger than the 17 year old Ibrahim. How could people make kids become soldiers? Kids deserve to live freely and not have to go to war.
