Dominican Families Being Evicted

In the Dominican Republic, more than seventy families that lived in a poor neighborhood in Santo Domingo, the capital, have been moved from their homes into camps. The people are now being threatened with eviction by security officials patrolling the camp, which would leave them homeless. My whole family is from the Dominican Republic so this mistreatment of children and their families really hits home. This also happened just slightly to the West of this country in Haiti earlier this year and affected more than 300 families there. What do you think about what is happening with these threats?
