In Guatemala, extreme rainfall caused terror among all of the country. This rainfall made land slides occur all throughout the entire Central American region but hit Guatemala the hardest. An immense number of people were trapped and lost in the natural  disasters. Also many people who were evacuated before hand still lost their homes. At least forty five people, including some children, died from these land slides. Land Slides occur when the soil where homes are built is not stable and cannot sustain much moisture. What can be done to prevent such horrible outcomes? Is de-forestation a factor in this disaster?
