Belarusian Youth Leader Facing Another Unjustified Year in Prison

Belarusian Youth Leader Facing Injustice

In Belarus, Zmitser Dashkevich, a youth leader, is imprisoned and has been since he was convicted in 2011. He was sentenced to two years in a labor colony but was soon transferred into a prison. The charges placed on him were an alleged asssault under article 411 which falls as Hooliganism. No proper proof to completely prove it to have been an illegal act was shown and it seemed like the officials just wanted to remove him from the equation of the December 19th demonstrations. He held a great amount of influence among young people and this was important to the officials who imprisoned him. How could governments be allowed to do this? Do you think young people are treated fairly in your country? If you want more detail and to help, check out the link above.
