Dear International Penpal:

Thank you for your interest in our Penpal for Peace Program. Founded in 1982, Kids Meeting Kids is a non-profit organization which is run by and for youth, ages 5 to 20, who work together and share a common goal of helping to make the world a safer, more peaceful, loving, and just place. We work on projects which promote children's rights, a fair world, and non-violent solutions to conflicts. Kids Meetings Kids helps young people by helping them to find ways to speak for themselves, take care of each other and the larger community around them. 400,000 children from many countries are writing to each other. They write about themselves, their interest, their families, schools, hobbies, questions about what's going on in the world, concerns they have about their countries, other kids and how they feel about wars, children's rights, and other world issues. From their penpals, they learn what it's like to live in another country and culture, and how another young person sees the world. The penpals often find that they have more things in common than they don't. Kids Meeting Kids helps link kids around the world.

How to Become a PenPal

All letters must be printed clearly. Please do not write in script because English is a second language to most children all over the world. Please include your name, address, zip, age (birthday too), sex, both in the letter and on the upper left hand corner of the envelope. Enclosing a self-addressed envelope (no stamps) is very helpful.

Mail your letter to:

The Cost

Kids Meeting Kids is a non-profit organization and we have very little funding. We ask you to send a $5.00 contribution for every first letter sent. This helps pay some of our costs so that we can keep going on with our work. If you cannot afford the $5.00, please send us whatever you can.
